Humidity during lockdown for duck eggs! Help!

What can we help you with?

Unless they are Call ducks or Muscovy, you should increase humidity on day 25, and lay the eggs on their side with the lowest dipping side of the air cells facing upward. They may take anywhere from 18-48 hours after they make their first pip, to fully hatching out, so don’t be alarmed if they take a while. They test our patience skills.
But they are definitely worth it!

Good luck!

assuming they hatch. how long after the first one does do I put it in the brooder? or do I wait for all 6( assuming great luck} to take them out of the brooder. I know you wait 24 hours on the first one but what if it takes three days for all six ?

Generally, they should all hatch within 48 hours after the first one fully hatches (not pip, but actual hatch). I usually wait anywhere from 1-8 hours to move them from the incubator to the brooder. I watch for them to be mostly dry and fluffy, but more importantly to be moving around well. Sometimes they just want to sleep, sometimes they come out ready to face the world. Boisterous ones I move sooner.
Also, you don’t really want to open the incubator a bunch once they start hatching, so if you have active pips and hatching going on, just wait for a good break in the action. Remove them quickly and carefully, so as not to lose the humidity built up.
OR you can wait till they are all finished. Up to you! :)

This thread has been helpful. Hatching out first batch , lockdown begins today. 4 Anconas, 4 khaki/white layers and 2 pure khakis. Started with 13 but 3 didn’t make it to this point. I’m going to try my best not to be over cautious and let them do their thing. I’m sure I’m going to be on edge. Using the nurture right 360
