The kids and I got a hova genesis I only filled up the first tray. Humidity is 63. I can’t get it down.
Can they hatch that high

Yes mine have around 60 to 65 humidity with no issues I just hatched 10 and ny swedish hatched 5 outside clutch

Woke up this morning and humidity is 57
Haven’t refilled in 36 hours
If it naturally maintains 50 without me putting water in is that best until lockdown? I have read alot about chicks getting stuck from not enough humidity and drowning from too much during lockdown.

If you are maintaining 50% humidity with no added water then I would definitely not add more water. Too much humidity can actually drown the chick in the egg. Many people on here dry hatch with humidity around 30-40% and have great hatch rates. I had a 100% hatch rate last year by dry hatching with all chicks being very lively and healthy.

I am in central FL and switched to dry hatching last year and have had very little problems. I do add water in the last 3-4 days and I am doing duck eggs only. I run between 35-45 % average.
