I know in the directions it says to fill only one water channel, but do any of you put water in both? When I only fill one of them the humidity goes to 45%, should I put more water in?
Thanks

SDpeafowl, Depends at what point of incubation that you are at. Everything that I read says that 45% for the first 18 days is ideal for chickens. At lockdown you want the humidity to be 60-65% so then fill the 2 channels. I have a brinsea but I also have the humidifier and it works like a charm. I think that you are ok

I will be setting the eggs tonight. I just looked and the humidity went down a little, into the 30%'s. Will it go back up when I put the eggs in?

I think that the odds are good that the humidity will go up. 30% is to low and I'v read that people put pieces of sponges into the channels to increase surface area and humidity. You might try that. I know that the humidifier is expensive but you might want to consider it. I am so impressed with the way the entire package works. Keep us informed about your progress. Enjoy the process. Lynn

I filled all my water channels, and am staying at about 40-45%, sometimes hitting 48-50. I am going to have to put a sponge or something in there during lock down. I was thinking a bout one of those green scratch pads with the sponge on one side, I think it will fit under the meshed metal.
