humidity won't go below 60. i have tried everything!!! i haven removed all the water in the wells. the eggs are on day 7. what else can i do? i have even taken th second plug out of the top. the temp. is still good at 99.5. is there anything else i can try?

I used silica crystals to drop my humidity. I think it worked. They are sold in art stores, maybe even department stores. It is a powder used to dry flowers. I think too a large dish of powder milk would help. I also would try a shot of dry air with the hair dryer. I don't know if this is bad..... I used it to bring my temp up when the bator dropped during hatch.
I noticed too that ALL of the water has to be evaporated before the humidity begins to drop. I was at 80% for about the first 14 or so days, not knowing this was bad. It took about 24 to 36 hrs for it to drop after I drained the wells.

If you've calibrated your hygrometer - aka you know how much it is OFF by, then by all means do dry out your incubator to some degree.

If you haven't done that and you don't know how far from accurate your hygrometer is - don't change anything until you calibrate it.

A search for "calibrating a hygrometer" will yield the how.

Digital hygrometers can be up to 25% high or low, sometimes more. Unless you KNOW, adjusting only causes mayhem.

Towel dry the whole incubator! It might help. We had a similar problem with my Turn-X but it was because I added too much water!

And is it 60 degrees or is it 60 percent? If it is degrees, you might need to raise the humidity! Unless you are using a digital hygrometer, it reads in degrees, not percent.

I hope this advice helps!
