humidity

I am in day 29 and no hatches, I realize now that I did not have enough humidity at final stage. I have upped the humidity to 75%. Do any of you experts out there think any of them will still hatch?

Not at day 29. Sorry.

I have never heard of a healthy successful hatcher and survivor past day 24/25. I had one on my first hatch that hatched day 24 and though we love him and he's grown into a rather beautiful roo, he has special needs because of his delayed developement. What was your temp and humidity the first 17 days and are you using a still or forced air bator? Chances are the lockdown humidity wasn't the culprit if none of them got as far as pipping. Are your gages checked for accuracy?

No, I don't think there is a chance for any of them. You can choose one, though, and crack it open outdoors in a ziplock bag to see when they quit.

AmyLynn2374 just to confirm...i just set up my new bator...Hova Bator 1588...temp is awesome throughout. My humidity is at 26% dry. Im not very good at reading the air cells when candling. Would you add water or leave it dry at 26%?!

I would add a small sponge with water and that's it. I'm more comfotable at 30% than 25%, but I don't freak out if I find it at 25% I just add a little water to my sponge. Also using a sponge if you find it pushes it too high you can just take the sponge out and problem solved....lol If you want on day 7/14/18 when you candle mark the air cells with a pencil and take a picture of them marked (side view) and upload them here and we can help with opinions on the air cells.

Glad to hear the temp is even and steady.

I use the dry method incubation. If my bator holds above 25% dry I run completetly dry, if it doesn't I add a wet sponge to hold it around 30%. I monitor my air cells for confirmation.

I use this method: http://letsraisechickens.weebly.com...anuals-understanding-and-controlling-humidity
I swear by this method-at least for the styrofoam bators. I'm still trying to gather info as to how well it works in different types of bators other than styrofoam.

Amy, you can count me as one that agrees with your method. I have the plastic Chinese "egg-incubator" (janoel 48 knock-off, I guess).... it really needs a name haha

Are you talking chickens or ducks? Or something else??? Have you candled them? Do they stink?

Chicks, no they don't stink at all, but also no sound.

Ugh... I would candle them, then try the float test.... but honestly, I would believe it would be a miracle for them to still be viable at 29 days. But miracles do happen, so check them out before you chuck them.
