We have been washing it with iodine, and she is walking perfectly fine now, should I still give her the antibiotics?

The good news is that she is now walking on the foot. Limping, but walking!
I skimmed through, but what is the antibiotic that I should if she goes septic?
She most probably already has if the foot was warm to the touch. Duramycin-10 at 1/2 tbls. per gallon for 7-10 days. If you have read the link given to you by Miss Lydia, you will also know I highly recommend iodine painted right on the bumble.
Please don't wait till she goes septic, treat now!!!
Vets are useless when it comes to chickens and ducks, at least the ones around me are, they thought a case of MG was bird flue...Ducks can hide very serious illness until it is too late. Some of us who have had ducks for a while - even though we are not able to see your duck - are trying to let you know that we feel it would be wise, and possibly life-saving to give oral antibiotics in addition to treating the bumble. While it is your decision, I just want to make sure you see that we think she may already have a serious infection and need more than topical treatment. Ducks can appear to improve, then rapidly decline and die. If you are unsure of the value of our ideas, I would pray you would seek out a vet immediately.

Her foot is no longer hot to the touch, its not swollen, and she is now walking on it.
I don't want to use medication unnecessarily, but if everyone is going to flip out on me without even seeing her or pictures then I will treat her with antibiotics to make everyone happy. Its not like it will kill or hurt her to do so.
The antibiotics I have on hand at the moment are: Neomycin 324, Corid, and Sulmet. Can any of those be given to her?
The Neomycin 324 is ment for Coccie so probably not but I listed it anyway.
So, now that I am doing what everyone wants, can we all please relax? The drugs are on there way to my feed store, they were out, its not like i'm tossing my duck out to die...seriously...
The Duck Forum has been such a blessing to me over these few years, and at the same time one of the drawback is that we are using text to have "conversations." There is so much that gets lost with text. I have read it is just about the worst way to communicate. And it is all that we have.
I see that you care about your ducks and agree that overmedicating is not a good idea. And as I wrote, you are the only one who can see and examine the duck. Glad she is doing so much better. It's rough to be without a helpful vet. Many of us are in that situation. The duck vet around here - the closest one - is over an hour's drive away. But at least there is one I can get to for less urgent issues. For anything that needs quick action, I am the one who has to handle it.![]()
As far as which antibiotic to use, looks like Haunted55 suggests Duramycin-10 at 1/2 tbls. per gallon for 7-10 days. I recall Miss Lydia posting a link to some recommended antibiotics in another thread. I hope they check back in, here. And I hope your duck continues to mend.
Forum members try to help each other out, we can only share experience and ideas, and ask questions. It is up to each of us to sift through suggestions and do what we feel is best. I get that. You need to do what you know is right. And because all we have is text and a few emoticons, I wanted to be sure that my concern about systemic infection was communicated.
Sometimes our previous experiences can leave us really sensitive about some topics. Ever since a friend lost her flock to a raccoon due to a misunderstanding about proper fencing material, that is a topic that gets me quite concerned, for example.
She sure is and I am glad to hear she has improved so much, good work!Well, she is just adorable!![]()
She looks good how does the bottom of her foot look? I am treating a hen[chicken] for bumble and the swelling is just barely showing and there is still a very small scab, been using the iodine for about a month now.And here is the video!
