Tell me what you all have or use ! 30-06 will be for elk.....maybe for deer if it doesn't kick as much as the 270 I have...FIL sais it hardly has a kick...so I'll try it tomorrow !

2 Winchester 351 saddle carbines from 1910's RCMP guns for deer
Remington 870 for bird hunting
.22 for shooting the woodchucks in my garden. ( So far, my neighbors haven't seen me shooting from the roof)

For deer I use an Ithaca Model 87 Deerslayer and a Knight 50 caliber inline muzzleloader.
For pronghorn antelope Remington Model Seven in 6mm
For caribou a Winchester Model 70 in 270 caliber
For coyotes a Weatherby Vanguard w/bull barrel in 22-250
For turkey and geese a Browning BPS 12 guage shotgun
For pheasants & rabbits an Ithaca Model 37 Featherweight in 20 guage
For squirrel a Browning semi-auto 22

I have a Savage .22 for varmints (raccoons/possums)

I am getting my rifle built, a springfield 1903 30-06 Mark I
For birds I've been using a Beretta Urika 20 ga, though I still like my model 12 winchester for turkey.

Remington 870 for Deer (slug barrel), rabbits, and trap shooting
.22 for target practice for the kids and the occasional whistle pig (groundhog)
30-06 for varmits at 500 yds or greater and hopefully some big game eventually

If Ohio allowed it, I would definetly use the 30-06 for deer. I've been considering hunting in Kentucky some year.

I had a rabbit in my yard this spring that was eating my garden. The only thing I had handy was the 30-06. When I hit it, it flew up in the air about 2 ft and flew backwards about 3 ft. It completely turned it inside out. The shot was only about 40 yds. It was kinda cool in a sick kind of way.

I forgot my muzzle loader - CVA 209 pro w/ 29" fluted SSTL barrel.
