hunting

Well I don't hunt turkeys so I have to look forward to next year. Spring/Summer for me is more about competition shooting. I've got 4 CMP matches, trap league and some local action pistol shoots on the calendar. Also hoping to buy a small piece of hunting land in Northern MN this summer as an investment. With the rate of return on timber/pasture land at current prices it's a no brainer if I can scrape up the down payment, plus I get to hunt on my investment instead of just get a 401 K performance report in the mail. Was in the process of buying one this winter then the **** furnace died so there went my down payment money. Have also been active in the 2A rights movement lately.

Also working on building a new hunting rifle this summer. Got the barreled action and the stock. Gonna build it up with the original 8mm military barrel and see how it shoots, if it's not up to par may re-barrel to 6.5x55 swedish. I just love that round. Good luck turkey hunters!

When I finish my rifle it should look something like this:

This is my "Hochsitz" rifle in .280 rem, I call it "The Death Ray" or "Thor" as it kills like a lightning bolt. Great shooter but a tad heavy for stalking through the woods
What a beauty! Nice gun.

I don't hunt much cause our dog keeps chasing all the animals away

I know how you feel, bro!

We have 8 dogs (2 Anatolian Shepherds, 2 red heelers, 2 blue heelers, and 2 coonhounds.) The coonhounds, Alice and Dan, are the best for hunting! They are also my little buddies

Hope you are OK as well. Im gonna hunt way more this year . Still ducking but gonna do more deer hunting this season. That is unreal your season starts that early Wekiva bird. I wouldnt mind the bugs as much as the heat.LOL! Good luck this season. I will try to follow this thread more. Good thread with some great photos and good folks from all over,

Yep our a is the first week end in September . I'm ready just got to do something with all this water were getting. I hunt river bottoms and ally land is flooded . Will be good for ducks though. Speaking of that. Shawn I'm gone have to go with you some this year. Wood ducks are fun but that's about all we get

Yep Aubrey I could take you on a great bay hunt. First phase there is alot of redheads.Second split buffleheads are everywhere.I dont know how its going to be with all this water this year.Hope its really good though. The bugs are awful down here right now. Sept. early teal seson will be a tough one because of no see ums and skeeters. We have had so much rain there hasnt even been a incoming tide in the pass in two months. Not kidding. The bay has been brown for as long as anyone can remember. Everyone is sick of it that fishes for a living let alone fun.. Even if it guit raining now it would take over a month to get any clear in it. We have had well over 20 inches in July.If we get even a small hurricane here trees will go down all over because the ground is so so saturated. I went scalloping at port st Joe last weekend and we crushed them. they were small though. You cant see in the deeper water to possibly get the bigger ones anyway. They are seeing lots of sharks there and here at crab island they have been catching and seeing a ton, Wierd year for sure, I cant wait for the colder dryer weather.

Been there all week Shawn back at mexico beach right now. We left Destin Saturday morning and went to the Spur. Was hoping for a good day of trolling. Hoping was it though. 1 foot or less....sure it was in between 3-5 s haha. But yep we got all the way to the canyons and it was just as dirty of water as you can get . Ol muddy green. Did get a nice 45 lb wahoo and average dolphin but that was it. Went 3 weeks ago and had a white marlin and a lot of big dolphin but water was beautiful then. Tuna and marlin were jumping everywhere. All the brain sure messed things up for sure .

Looking forward to duck season . We come over here all the time so might have to try and run up with you foe some
