hunting

I do in the off season here after deer season ends in January. But, my DH and I use a pellet gun instead. Less noise and cheap to use

no Pest control people on here:lol:

I gotta tell ya, there's nothing worse than having a hunting buddy drag up to Cabelas without a cent in your pocket! Its like dangling a carrot inches infront of a horse! All I could do was walk around dreaming about all the stuff I'd like to buy and could use. So, he checked out. We got back to the car headed home and he hands me a bag with a sign in it. I opened it up and bust out laughing (which btw I needed a good laugh after the last two weeks) The sign read: "We Don't Have a Scent....All our money goes for more deer gear". I was like you son of gun rubbing salt into the wound man! But, still couldn't resist laughin.

Point of the story......nest time I'm staying in the car!! LOL

I like to pot a few bushytails to warm up for deer hunting. I use a Norinco JW15 (identical to a CZ 452 and the basic action the Chicom olympic team fields.. I think the commies shared rifle designs) set up with a 6X scope and Lapua silhouette ammo. Scary accurate rimfire rig in the woods or on the silhouette course. I've picked 'em out of tall trees over 100 yards. Great practice for funky position shooting at bigger game. If you can eyeball a squirrel leaning out 30 degrees and crouching to shoot under a limb offhand, that quartering shot on a whitetail behind you is no problem. I also take a few and the occasional bunny or pheasant with the Ruger mark 3 while running traps.

We have fox squirrels up here. Kinda the difference between eating a cornish game hen and a full blown broiler. If there's foxies around, I'll pass on the greys. Delicious with onions, carrots, celery and squash on a bed of wild rice.

Last night I thought this was going to be a horrible day. First day of bow season. High winds. Muddy. Well, I won't complain any more. Ten minutes after sunrise, my son got a shot at a doe. Shot right over her. A couple minutes later, I got a shot at the second. (Well, turned out to be a button buck. Still had hair over the nubs.) Right through the heart. I told my son, "You know that was luck". He said, "Yeah, but nobody else has to know that."

Sorry, guess I explained that poorly. He missed his, but I got the one behind her. This is his first year bowhunting, but he has been in the stand with me (two seater) the last two years.

Well, that just means you get to spend a little more time in the stand with him until he gets his!
