Might not be able to go hunting now that I injured my leg

We got skunked bear hunting this weekend, so we took some of the boys that were with us fishing. They'd stocked the lake with trout earlier in the week, so we all had a great time. My father-in-law is like a big kid himself, showing the kids and me how to fish.

We rigged the dogs for a while this morning, but my husband has to work on Sunday afternoons, so we didn't stay long. Had a strike but it didn't pan out. That's my dog on the right, and an older one we were packing around for a friend on the left, as his rig was full of his younger dog. Old Man might teach Jane a thing or two, we hope.

Packaged our sausage and burger last night (about 60 pounds). We got the seasoning from the Mennonites this year (Sauder's Market in Seneca Falls). It was a good choice.

Did you make a breakfast style sausage? Did you combine it with pork? That's what I do. It's my favorite! I ordered my seasoning mix from a little hometown market that makes sausage just like my grandpa used to make years ago when he had a small processing plant in the back yard. It was SO GOOD!

Sounds pretty good. I usually go about 50-50 with the pork. The mix I use has something in it that holds the fat in or something. When you fry it up, there is NO fat in the pan, even though I KNOW it's in the meat. Maybe it's not the "healthiest, but it sure makes it moist and good though.
