Anywhere it hits land is going to be a disaster.
So true. Skirting the coast would just put the entire western half of the state from the middle to the coast in the highest wind/flood area as well. My personal worry is for Naples. My granddaughter is there.

It keeps that strongest Northeast quadrant of the storm spinning over the coast potentially causing higher storm surges. Have a niece riding it out in their apt in Boynton Beach.
 
A catastrophic storm surge will swamp parts of southwest Florida later Sunday.

Damaging winds may also occur in parts of the Southeast from Alabama and Tennessee to Georgia and the Carolinas.
