Regarding stinkbugs.... Week before last when I was cleaning out the lean-to that I am rehabbing for the turkeys, there was a lot of "junk". This included an old TV that was built on a stand, but someone had turned it upside down. On top of the "bottom" was a piece of very thin veneer and which had a bunch of flower pots sitting on top. I moved the pots outside in a wagon and went back in to continue picking up the ton of junk laying in there. (No, I didn't put the stuff in the shed!)

When I moved that piece of veneer, the space between it and the 1 inch long legs - had to be over a 1000 stinkbugs. (Uck!) Anyway, I threw the veneer on the floor and "exited right" out the door.

I went outside to take a break, get something to drink and to wait for the bugs to clear the area. While sitting there, my four ducks wandered inside and were in the lean-to section for a bit before I noticed them snuffling/snorting.

I walked in there to see what they were doing and the ducks were scarfing those stinkbugs up like they were M&M's! They ate all of them as far as I could tell.

:thumbsup

I love my ducks. :love:love:love

(Not sure I would want to eat any duck eggs for awhile after that!)

I don't agree with that author.
Our family has always used this word and never in a bad/mean way.

Well...

If you were upset with someone and said it in a mean way and weren't smiling, there would be a fight. All the witnesses would say you started it. In short, smile when you call someone that. Some of those boys don't play. Rice fed country boys that are used to wrestling steers and winning. I don't care what kind of ninja your sensei said you are or what color belt you wear. BIG rice fed country boys.

We ARE coonasses so we can use the word the way WE want.
(Which has never been in a mean way)

I really never heard that story before.

I wonder what they do all day then

Now you know people did not always have electricity or any other kind of power. Fireplaces, cookstoves, lanterns for light, etc. And, NO TV or computers.

For many it was a hardscrabble life and still is in many countries. They spend most of their time finding/killing/harvesting whatever is needed to keep food on the table or wood or other burnables stored up for heating/cooking.

Any pastime for "fun" included games, books (for those who could read), making their own music, sewing, whittling, and the list is really rather long.

Plus sleeping - except for that small part where some kind of exercise was required. lol.

OK Chefs...I need some quick help.
I want to make this today:

I have never made a stuffed chicken before.
My question is can i add a little rice inside the chicken or should I just make a dirty rice on the side?
I'm worried there won't be enough room 'inside' and I'm worried the meats won't cook inside...tell me they will.
I need to go buy the chicken right now so I'm thinking I will buy the biggest one I can find.
@rjohns39 have you made this recipe before?
