the governor here is closing the schools tomorrow for the kids and claims to be getting the pr national guard ready. they say the predicted storm path is closer to pr now and my mother in law went out to do some hurricane food shopping and says "there are 300 people in the store freaking out about the storm right now". i think the 300 is an exaggeration but i find it a bit funny. on a good note the stores have ice cream two dollars off in preparation for the coming storm. yes:yesss:!!

my sky has changed from looking bright and sunny to now looking like sunset.
Call your mom....tell her to not forget the TP!
Get as much food as possible...JUST IN CASE.

Hang in there!
I'll be here to keep you company if/when it hits.

Just make sure you have extra food!

Also make sure you have a good supply of clean water. People think I'm crazy but every time I empty a milk jug, I clean it, fill it with water and put it in the barn.

Yeah, one of the pieces of advice is, if you live in a mobile home, evacuate. Even if your home isn't in an area of mandatory evacuations, a mobile home isn't a safe place to ride a storm out. Kinda like with tornadoes - they talk about sheltering in an interior room on more substantial structures, but with a mobile home, the advice is just get out.
I had told the DH that we would probably be safer in the chicken coop. Of course, prior to the storm, we had no clue. At the time, no TV, no form of communications, didn't know much of anyone, blah blah.

As it was, our mobile home was almost the only "house" in our area that did not substain any major damage (yes, lucky I know). I guess the trees provided some protection since we were in the middle of them. With no basement, no place to "run" to, it was our only option. Not even cars would have been any safer.

Whereas, the neighbor's brick homes were pretty much shredded.

The only thing we lost was an Argentina scorpion I was "babysitting" for one of my sons. When the power went out, there was no way to keep him warm. The chickens were fine and never stopped laying eggs.

We did gain an awful lot of wildlife (besides the gators) from thousands of insects including mosquitos, spiders (the huge yellow and black ones to black widows), white scorpions, snakes, armadillos (I had one in the house as a pet. His name was Drop Dead Fredd) to the deer, the neighbors cows and wild boars.

I walked around with a bat for days.

I guess if your power goes out, you have all the makings for milkshakes. :)
Stay safe, ditto on TP and food AND WATER. You can miss a few meals, but water is of the utmost importance.

I stock up on gallons of water and run more for the birds, ferrets, and the cat even if the forecast is just for severe thunderstorms. If our power goes out, the well pump doesn't run either. .....but I do have an old old outhouse if it became necessary #justsaying! Hmmm....I guess I might find a use for all that junk mail, too.

i think even if it doesnt hit us directly our lights will still go out. last time when tropical storm erika came by pr the storm was suppose to my city but last minute it went under us but the winds we got knocked the lights off for us for at least a week so once it gets right near us i probably wont have any internet.
lol my MIL came home with two ice creams, cause thats the most important right now haha.

i wish i could find the video of walmart here. they showed it on the news and the lines were huge. some of them arent buying the best things right now im not sure what they are thinking. some are buying a bunch of soda and chunk food. lol

Kinda makes sense... they are usually heavy duty and opaque, any residual chlorine would sanitize the stored water and would off gas pretty easily before consuming. Chlorine is used to sanitize many municipal water supplies.

Hoping for the best for y'all :fl
