Salutations! May your blessings be many!

I thought these pullets would slow down as the days shorten. We are up to a dozen a day from 18 fine laying pullets. Keep getting an occasional tiny egg as another starts and the others are just getting medium sized. Side by side, the difference is obvious. Simply amazing taste wise. Rich and succulent.

The first zucchini and radish were harvested and consumed last night. Everyone agrees that zucchini tastes much different from the supermarket variety. Almost as juicy as a cucumber. Had help eating it up! And the first cherry tomato is blushing.

Forecast is dropping down into the 30's again this week. Brrrr! We'll be thinking of y'all in the great white north! (and wondering)

The floods are gone and a little talk is still happening as the rebuilding continues. This will be a Christmas windfall to the construction hands this year. Things are being reordered.

Had a hawk sitting on the power lines watching chickens. Crazy Lady was concerned, but everyone is still present. Between the trees and the tight coop in the run, I think we are fine. The dogs are patrolling and have only tried to dig one hole. The digging wire helps.

Is it normal to have a little poop drizzle on the butts occasionally? A few are a little messier than the others.

Had some leftovers from the family get together. Put several cans of corn in the run and they started picking out the tomato bits. I figured it would last a couple days. Didn't last one. They scarfed it right up. Poor deprived chickens.

Those tiny fart eggs are so cute!

Yes, several will have a little poop catching on their feathers. I try to keep them trimmed off with scissors especially when the temperatures hit the 30s...they can freeze hard as rocks and the girls have trouble nestling down on their newly laid eggs.

Lucky chickens!
