Hurricane Harvey coop rebuild (Picture heavy)

I would use it as is....if the framing is solid.
I'm assuming it was secure before, correct me if I'm wrong.

Don't think you can have it both ways, without a lot of tear down and rebuild.
Add screws/washers where you think they are needed on the mesh to make it predator proof. I'm not much for 'pretty', function is beauty to me.

If you can't unscrew or pry it up without damaging supports/framework, then get a sawzall and cut it as close as possible.

I would put up HC inside to hold the DL.

Might not need aprons then.

Might be best to build new doors then....eliminating gaps and accommodating the DL.
Thank you so much for the help. I keep flip flopping between very excited and very discouraged.

The framing is solid, just old. I didn’t exactly mean pretty, just not disgusting. There’s a section on the wall of the coop where there’s a layer of wire on both sides of the wood, and poop built up inside the wire crevice over time. It’s pretty gross and impossible to clean.

I didn’t even think of putting HC on the inside.. not sure why that didn’t click. I will deal with the doors another day, but I definitely have no idea where to go with that.

I think I’ll spend today trying to clean it up. If I’m totally discouraged by tonight then maybe chickens aren’t for me right now. :/

'Life's a rollercoaster'.
It's big undertaking, slow and steady'll get it done.

Was thinking about that power pole, has it ever worked in the time you've lived there(which is how long?)? Wonder's if it's tied into your breaker panel at the house.

I’m 75% sure we used it for something at one point. Honestly it’s been a while. I was going to test it to see if it even worked but I’m scared I’m gonna shock myself lol. If I plug something to see if it’s on, is that dangerous?

Yes...IMO...it is.
I'd call an electrician, or maybe the power company would do it, and have it disconnected.

Update. Might not look like a lot but I’m exhausted. If I never see another cockroach again I will be very happy. It’s about to start raining and I don’t feel great so I think that’s a day. Slow and steady...

Next step is convincing someone with a tractor (dad) to get rid of the coop, snipping down inside border and roofing wire, and figuring out that power pole (also dad). I think this is possible.

Great job! Uhg, I hate cockroaches, My little brother keeps them for his lizard, and even though he assured us that "They can't escape," we now have an infestation.
Haha! I actually keep dubia roaches for my leopard gecko. They’re fat and slow though. The ones under all that trash were the huge flying red/Brown kind. Ugh.
