Hurricane Irene - Watch out East Coast

Oh boy... does anyone know how heavy something would have to be "not" to be blown away by 80-90mph winds? We are putting everything we "think" can blow away, in the basement. But I have some pretty heavy iron chairs on the patio that I have nowhere to put them. Maybe anything 20-40 pounds can stay put?

We had a wind sheer here once that took a neighbor's cast iron bench and threw it through their sliding glass doors. Not sure how fast the winds were blowing, but we were shocked.

we are in central ny but making preperations as well pretty much what we would do with the threat of a nor easter plenty of ready to eat and drink non perishables, and make sure we have vehicles topped off with gas and spare propane tank.
At least we wont have the frozen water and pipes issue and no power isnt that bad we have gone a few days in the winter months without power due to storms and managed just fine with a few extra layers of clothes.
the only thing that concerns me is the possibility of flying debris and wind gusts of 50 mph is still enough to break windows and we have some really nice big windows that would be concerning if they broke.

I think it would be a safe bet to bring them in or ask a neighbor or friend any anyone if they can put them in a sturdy building for you. I must be picky we arent expecting to bear the brunt only wind gusts of 50 mph or so as forecasted so far and my outdoor adirondack chairs are in the woodshed. and we secured the grill using some straps to the porch.

Our winds will becomming from the north north east so I have put alot of things against a fence so it would have something to blow against and not blow away or into a window. Been through a couple of storms and Fran was no picnic. No power for 9 days and that was good for the Raleigh area. We have so much more stuff now I can't beleive it. All our outdoor tables are turned over, chairs put up. Like I said before I'm thinking about hidding in the coop tommorow. There are grates over the windows and all the 4x4s are in 3 ft. concrete. But we should only get 50 to 60 mph gusts. Things that make you go bbbbbbrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Yup, tables on the deck and patio are turned over, and the grill is tied to the deck. Hubby went to get ice for a huge cooler we have in case of power outage. Truck has full tank of gas, bought a car charger for the cellphone, chicken cages are set up in the basement. We were looking at the coop today and its getting old, not going to take the chance. Bunnies are going to be brought in, their hutch is not the sturdiest. I hope I am remembering everything. I did a huge shopping yesterday, plenty of water/ non perishables etc.. I feel bad for my daughter though, we had a huge party scheduled for tomorrow, made all the necessary phone calls to cancel. We have alot of relatives coming from NY. We gave her her gift tonight, so she is a little happier

I think I'll go bake her cake anyway!
