Are you using something on her wound to disinfect or keep it moist? Vetericyn Wound Spray, weak Betadine, or 2% Clorhexidene are good to spray on for disinfection. Then plain Neosporin, 3x antibiotic, Polysporin, etc are good to dab on the wound to keep it moist and heal. Later, when some healing has occurred, use plain normal saline to dab the wound, and the ointment.

Yes @aart that’s the tail on the right side of the pic.

I keep cleaning her wound and bandaging it. I put first aid ointment on it last night to hopefully seal the bleeding. I’m about to go pick up some first aid stuff specifically for her. Her wound smells god awful

What exactly are you using to clean, ointment, and bandage?
How long was it bleeding?
Bad smell not good at all.

Bad odor definitely is not good. It needs some disninfecting right away. I would use one of the things listed in post 16 twice a day until the odor is gone. Apply antibiotic ointment after cleaning it, and continue that twice a day until it heals. Leave it uncovered.
