Hurt Ducks Help!!

Welcome To BYC
I'm sorry about Daffy and Daphne :hugs
Can you post some photos of the wounds?

Where are you located in the world?

I don't know enough about essential oils to be able to tell you what or how to use them. @coach723 may have some tips about those.

This is what I would do. Rinse her wounds with saline since it's her head, it won't hurt if that happens to get in her eyes. If you don't have store bought saline, then make your own.
The recipe is 1 teaspoon of salt per quart of water. Boil for 15 minutes to make sterile.
Let cool, then use it to clean her wounds. I would make fresh as needed, saline doesn't store well and would need to be kept in a sterilized jar for no more than 24hrs..

Do you have an first aid supplies? Neosporin (triple antibiotic ointment), vetericyn, bannix - anything like that?
If not, then personally, I would try to get one of those. Generic triple antibiotic ointment can be found at most dollar stores that's what I use.

Let's see the pictures though - I or others may suggest something else.

Unless is rubbing her head, (self-mutilating) the wound, I would personally take the bandage off, it can be beneficial in some cases, but too often it's applied incorrectly, and in effect, can delay healing, cause tissue edema, create an environment for maggots , and can irritate the skin. Just flush the head with saline, and slather it with an antibiotic ointment. Keep her In an area away from flies.
Yes I’m having her soak right now I’m having trouble with the last bandage

Oh no flies are bad here right now we are trying to keep her on the back porch but we even have flies sneaking into the house

I am so so sorry about your babies. Sending so much love to you, daffy and daphne.

The flies here in NJ are awful right now as well. Just be careful, if they lay larvae in the wound, you'll end up with fly strike and it'll be far more dangerous. Just keep the wound clean. Flush it out 2x a day if possible.

Sending SO MUCH love to you and your babes from NJ❤❤❤🦆🦆

Of course. I am a total newbie myself but this forum is not just a resource of knowledge, but a home for crazy chicken or duck people and the like. These people are so helpful and wonderful, so you are absolutely in the right place. Any of the little bit of knowledge I have came from people here.

I never thought I'd be a crazy chicken lady, but I'd proudly say I am!!

From what I've seen, chicks and ducks are VERY resilient....there have been cases of what looked like a mortal wound(s) but with some TLC, they have made amazing recoveries! So rest easy, you are in good hands here. Sending love and prayers your way!!
❤❤❤
