I have a young emu that one of its toes is swollen and looks like it might now be bleeding. Not sure what to do! I have a Vetericyn plus for poultry care. Thought I would catch the bird, clean the wound and spray with that. Don't know if I should bandage it. Also one of our mules could of step on it. Don't know, but it is really swollen.

Try to make the chick's life as easy as possible: plenty of food and water; nothing startling it into sudden movement. And take a deep breath yourself: feeling helpless is hard to bear. Try to just watch and wait.

I would hope that it heals itself. Our emus get scrapes and bumps ALL THE TIME I swear! They heal fast too! Sometimes I put polysporin on there, it just depends how bad it is. I think they are more susceptible when they are younger. I would keep an eye on it, and maybe google 'chicken' + your symptoms since there's nothing much available for emus it seems.
