Hurt hen

Last night I am pretty sure a possum got into one of my chicken houses. I had a hen setting on some eggs. I found alot of feathers this morning and all the eggs eaten. Later I found the hen ( not dead ) but very hurt. Her back was biten up a good bit and her back end was bitten as well. I don't know what to put on her to help with the healing process. I have her in a different pen now so she can get better. Anyone have any ideas on what kind of ointment to put on her or do I just leaveher alone.

Put betadine on the wounds and apply neosporin or triple antibiotic ointment until healed. If infection starts, get her started on amoxicillin.

Thank you for your information. I hope she gets better. She acts like her leg is hurt but I don't want to mess with it too much right now.

Sadly this sweet little hen did not survive the mauling it got from the possum. She was too badly injured. I am taking all precautions now to make sure all my Mommas and chicks are safe from harm.
