I just bought chicks on saturday from the farm store on Tues I noticed that 1 of my RIR chicks was holding her leg up and limping when she tried to walk. I figured that the other chicks were bullying her so I seperated her along with a second RIR. She is stand and limping on the leg now but I noticed that so is the second one. Can someone help me im new to this. Please and thank you

Give them some Vitamin B complete in there water, this usually helps with leg issues. You can buy it at any store, if you have some vitamins like Polyvisol without iron give them a drop or two per day as well..

Oh shoots forgot to ask, did you examine the legs? Is there any swelling or adnormal lumps? any cuts? missing toe nails? anything out of the ordinary?

Thank you. No,no abnormalites that i notice now. The first one that was hurt foot was limp, but it isnt anymore. Should i worry about this happening. To the rest of my chicks and is there a specific term for what it is?

Well probably something minor since he seemed to recover soooo very quickly, sometimes they pull the leg up and backwards to stretch it but in your case since he was limping, he probably just had a sore muscle. Sometimes those feeds stores over crowd there chicks and they can't move around to do the necessary scratching and stretching that they need to do so there little legs get all cramped up.

If it was a serious leg issue you would need about 3 weeks to a month sometimes even more time for them to recover..
