I have my first chicken injury - 7 weeks old. I’ve examined her multiple times and can’t see anything that looks wrong. However, she’s super tipsy, I’m thinking it’s a leg injury, on her right side. She can stumble just enough to eat and drink, but spends the whole rest of the day laying flat on her side. Only 4 other chicks with her and they’re very kind, always cuddling and checking on her so I haven’t separated her. Other than that, she shows no signs of distress. Eating, drinking, talking (no distressed sounds), nothing. What do I do...? It’s been about 5 days. Not getting better or worse.

If you test her legs by bending them, does she resist or have any discomfort? Are her legs stretched strait out behind her, or curled up? If you pick her up and help her walk, does she move her legs normally? (If she does, it could be more of a balance issue than an actual leg problem.) Also, I would check her ear slits for puss, like an ear infection, which could affect her balance. Hope we can figure out what it is!

When I picked her up to look her over again last night, I held her body in one hand and tried having her stand on my other hand. One leg would bend normally, but she kept the other stiff and straight. I can’t really tell what she does when I help her walk because she moves tries running/flying lol. But I didn’t think to check her ears, thanks!

So the leg that is stiff, can you get it to bend at all or is it completely stiff? You could put her in a chicken hammock I suppose.. 🤔 super weird that she’s totally normal besides!
