Husband brought home 2 Ameraucana chicks from Orschlen farm supply

These are the ones that she recently hatched. They're Ameraucanas and Ameraucana rooster over RIR hens. Solid colors are Ameraucanas, chipmunks are A x RIR. None of our local stores had anything that I'd been coveting so I passed on add-ons. She's going to put another 22 eggs in the incubator next weekend so I might hit up some folks I know who raise Mottled Javas and some other endangered/threatened breeds and see if they have any fertile eggs. If not, that gives me three weeks to scour the local feed stores for something interesting.

I was hoping to source some White Rocks but no one has any at this time of year.

Yes I believe that's what he has done! He's retired so he'll be putting the majority of the effort in it. They are so adorable.

They look like Bronze turkeys; you'll know soon enough whether they're Standard Bronze or Broad Breasted Bronze. SB has the build of a heritage turkey; fairly svelte and with their legs fairly close together. A BBB is a meat bird and they are chunks. As the name suggests, they're broad across the breast and their legs are set distinctly apart so they can better carry the weight they'll soon gain.

A pic of my Broad Breasted White is attached. A BBB is the bronze version of the BBW. She's 6 months old and weighs 32-35 lbs. She's leaner than most her age because she lives a chicken lifestyle- pellets in the morning followed by a day's worth of foraging with the chickens, ending with more pellets in the afternoon.

You'll love them. Turkeys are so sociable.
I hope so, I've been reading the turkey threads and apparently I know nothing. I hope they don't get sick Because I wouldn't know what to do. I've been playing with them just like I did the little chicks and they seem to like my company. I Read you needed to know what kind they were before you bought them. I still don't know what kind of they are.

I've been lied to! My husband thought it would be funny to buy turkeys To see how long it took me to figure it out. Of course I didn't figure it out. I've never had turkeys. I named them thanksgiving and Christmas. I can't believe I didn't even notice
Lol. I looked at those pics and thought…”those aren’t Ameraucana chicks…”

😂😂
