So we started with 5 RIR. Then we got some other pullets from a local supplier mixed about ten and some Cornish Crosses, only about 40 total added. My wife freaked. My kids are loving it. However, we had what we called the great massacre. Lost all but one of the pullets and the RIR.

This we have 42 were are adding plus 4 ducks and two turkeys. We have been busy building tractors and some other pens. We are also going to brood some for a friend of ours. Out of the 42 we had a bunch ordered and I added some Welsummers and Columbian Wyandottes so we have added 11 to the original batch. Everytime my family figures out what's going on they think I am a chicken freak. My wife asked if I thought we lived on a farm. I told her that if 67 acres does not count as farm ground I don't know what does. Oh I am also renting pasture for 8 pair of cattle to a friend of mine so I can learn about that too.

Now we are talking about adding a few ducks since the pen is big enough.

I think I am a Chicken Hoarder is there such a show? I should be on it.

Need to change what it says under my posts it should read 17 chickens 1 bantom rooster 14 call ducks 6 6 week old chicks and 6 more hatching today I really can't go to chicken sales any more or I will be divorced

Thanks! Everyone around me knows I need it! My little brother has been giving me a hard time bc I'm either in the basement with the chicks or outside with the chickens or on BYC, he told me today "sissy you need help, I think you're addicted to chickens".

I told him I was actively seeking help on BYC, and my boyfriend chimes in and says "no they encourage and enable you, that's not the kind of help you need".

Silly chicken haters! HAahahahahah! I am enjoying my chicken madness!!

I started with 3 RIRs, 2 became too mean for a petting farm so they were sent to an actual farm to live out their lives. So my one left needed a friend. along came 2 more. original chicken died, so they needed a new friend to help them mourn their loss, back up to 3. then came the abandoned rooster in need of a home. a couple months later another RIR showed up looking for a home and she got to stay, that's 5. last fall i made the horrible mistake of checking out the chirping at the feed store, now we're at 7. just hatched 2 from my roo and one of the hens, so i'm currently at 9.

Oh, and the 18 eggs in the incubator Don't count.
