I hope everyones right and we are going through it and not just in it.

My DH works in automotive as well. He makes Silencers for vehicles. Its very small time compared to michigan but when they hurt we hurt so I hope things pick up for everyone.
I am sorry. I was fired unexpectedly in early Dec and then the guy lied to UE so I initially got denied and am having to fight for my UE. Have been looking for a job, but no luck so far.
Jeez. *Hugs* I somewhat know the feeling. Hubby was laid off on the 8th. They're hoping to bring him back, but who knows if/when they will. Only one kid and another due in April, but, I understand the stress of it. We're fortunate, my work is just calling people back after basically going under, so I'm going to have to bust bottom end to get as many hours in that I can. Unfortunately, I don't get to go back for another two weeks or so, and then work is always iffy at my place of employment, they could give us overtime one week and we could stay at home the next.
I hope that everything works out for you and your's.
I don't know why I read this post. This is such a snowball issue. All these layoffs so nobody wants to buy anything. Then more places shut their doors. When is it going to stop? I sure hope the new guys in town have some kind of plan. It's time for Washington as in the legislative and executive branch to end the partisan stuff and find a solution. They're the ones that allowed this to happen. Now they need to fix it.
For all of you that have been laid off. I wish you my best. I sure don't have a plan. We barely get by right now. If I get laid off I'll be lucky to find a job for half of what I make now.
Back in 81 I worked for GE at their nuclear energy control plant. Three mile island had just happened and nuclear plan contracts were canceling left and right. They were starting layoffs with the 1 and 2 yr employees. Instead of just laying of they did the 1 week on 1 week off routine. That way you couldn't afford to live so you just quit. Then you couldn't get unemployment. I was a 5 year employee and saw the writing on the wall. So I went to work for Uncle Sam. Joined the Army. Too old and fat for that now.

Your right. It is way more complicated. That is only a segment of the problem. There is enough blame for everyone. Even a significant portion of the public. I think everyone has learned a lesson and it's time to move on. If the problem is not fixed the middle class will cease to exist.
In fact, Bush was a great president. Most people just want to look somewhere else to lay blame for problems. The government was not created to give you handouts. People should make their own way in life. That's why God invented parents as a form of guidance.
