hydgrometer & vent plug question?

Temps that are a too high are worse...temps slightly low will only delay your hatch by a bit...too low and that's a whole other story...see if you can get your temps just slightly higher with that humidity, that way when your temps drop a little with the higher humidity it won't be a problem, and when it dries out in there more and the temp goes up a little, you're still ok. When I was running a still air, I tried to keep it 100.5-101.

My question is after the chickens start hatchig, I was told to not open the incubator, will I take the vent plugs out then or will that cause shrink wrapping of the chicks?????

I never use vent plugs in my forced air hovabator. Even when I used to use the old still air, I only left 1 in. Ventilation is very important, not enough ventilation and your chicks will suffocate - that being said, if the instructions that came with your incubator say to leave the plugs in, or take them out, that's what you should do. They have tested the individual incubators, and they WANT you to have good hatch rates, or you will buy someone else's incubator.

I am going to play it safe and just leave in one vent plug until day 18, I want them to be able to breathe, thank you for all of your help!

You bet...both of you!!
