So this thing I've been observing all of yesterday and this morning with Welsh Harleys is how hygienic thay are.
These little ducklings will be going over each other picking stuff out of each other's feathers. By this I don't mean aggressive pecks, but what look like a hygienic behavior.
Its interesting that this trait exists, and is a trait against sickness and disease. I'm partly interested in this also because with bees, beekeepers really like and prize hygienic bees. So for ducks to have a trait like this when thinking fo that is fun.
Well some say that all birds clean their feathers. That's probably true. And other ducklings besides harleys do this also. But I'm not sure how much I've seen them do it for each other...I'll maybe follow up on this thought later, after watching to see if the others do it for each other or not.
