Hygrometer

Hi!
The Accu-Rites are usually accurate, but if you use them in a 'hatcher-situation' for any length of time, the hatching fuzz messes up the readings.

I have 4 in a 2 gal zip-bag w/saltwater for testing right now.
The 2 I usually use (but haven't believed lately) are showing 27% and 46% and the ones that have never been in the hatcher (incubator only and gh) are reading dead on 75%.

I tried to take to 2 wrong ones apart to clean the fuzz, but I don't know if I did any good or made it worse.

At any rate, they weren't trustworthy like they were.

I agree, Lisa, that after awhile, they get affected by the hatching conditions in the bator. They weren't meant to be used in a closed environment like that.

Am I looking for an indoor or outdoor model?

Doesn't matter which hygrometer you get, they work the same, if they're digital. I'd say analogs aren't as accurate, probably. Maybe they're just harder to read.

Stay away from IncubatorWarehouse.com digital hygrometer/thermometers I just picked one up from ebay, used it for 4 days before I found out about calibrating it and when I finally did the reading was off by 16% on the low side. Hope I didn't drown my chicks!
