Hygrometer

I think my Walmart is just one of those that doesn't have hygrometers. I looked by the thermometers/rain gauges and they had a pretty pathetic selection (at least compared to Menards). I didn't even bother asking an employee at WM, I figured they wouldn't know what I was talking about.

TSC is woefully unprepared for poultry breeders and enthusiasts, there is no one at most of them that can even answer questions...no hygrometers, poor at best incubators and supplies..and they sell out every year of the LGs that they supply...you would think they would at least provide a few brinseas, hovabators and replacement bits.....i thought one time, i will just go down and get a replacement wafer...nope they would have to order one...and that might take over a week...people buy the LGs then have tons of questions and no one there really knows how to answer them..i had to ask them to get several things for me like vetrx....then people cant find any answers become discouraged and upset , its not like the old days when people used to apprentice with poultry keepers or were raised with it...now its all poke and hope..thank god for sites like BYC that help so many people .

I ended up ordering online from a cigar supply house. The shops around here didn't have one. It arrived and I put it in the incubator. The one I bought is one of the ditigal Xikars brands. After leaving it overnight it read 55 percent moisture and 35 c. I'm not sure what the c part is but if it means I'm expecting 35 chickens out of 18 eggs I sending this thing back. All I'm wanting to do is hatch my GLW eggs.

Now I can't fuss about what I don't have. But I would like to have a Hovobator. I wanted one for 12 eggs but $129 ran me off.

I've had great luck with an old shoe lace and a brinsea incubator thermometer. Just dip the shoelace/thermometer probe in a cup of water in the incubator compare to your chart(you can find on the internet) and bingo. I also use a accuwrong...I mean acurite weather station for a refence point.

Sounds like your hygrometer is set for Celsius. I would guess it's the temperature in Celsius. Are you looking for the Genesis? If not, you can get a still air hovabator on ebay brand new pretty darn cheap.
