I agree with the others, your set up looks pretty tight. If you want to go electric check out the par-mak (I think that's right, I'll have to double check tomorrow) solar chargers, they have some good products. Might be time to upgrade the door gun though.

Conservachick and Kittymomma nailed it. Electrify the whole thing with a 50 mile charger. That will get the attention of both the coyotes and mountain lions.

Could be that some heavier rocks could be used on the skirting. Is the run tunnel-proof?

Really nice attractive coop and I like the ventilation at the top of the gables to let the heat/fumes out. A ventilated cupola would look really nice on top and would increase cooling in hot weather. Pretty location and nice shade too. Well thought-out all around design.

I agree about the solar charger. We have one, and the only reason it works with our horses is because they have hit the fence when a "real" charger was on it, and they respect it a little more. We use hot rope, though, so the charge is less "hot".

If you are concerned about the small length of charged wire, you could hook it up to hot rope or tape instead of bare wire...that cuts the zap a bit.

I've hit our hit wire more times than I care to think about. It hurts, but it was hardly fatal. I'd say a solar powered hotbox is a good investment.
