I’m starting to hate my rabbits because of Craigslist people… Rant

Friend, how are you advertising these rabbits? What kind are they? Let me see if I can help ya out.
I started out by keeping it simple. 8 weeks is the age they have to be to sell or give away in NYS. They’re 8 weeks now. I state their age, sex, and how much I’m asking for them. When that post got flagged and I got hate emails left and right, and gave my address to two trolls, I changed to a more blunt post.

This is the post I put up after two weeks of trying to find homes for the second litter, posting a nice post and being called names.

8week old rabbits for sale

Don’t bother emailing me if:
You aren’t serious
You think I’m a breeder
You want to hate on me
You won’t email me back

Don’t waste my time and, more importantly, don’t waste the time of these baby rabbits. I’m looking for serious homes and by you trolling me potential good homes have passed by. So you have been the cause of loosing these rabbits a good loving forever home. I hope trolling me was worth that. These rabbits were not the product of over breeding or me trying to make a quick buck. These were an accident litter. The second one. If you don’t know anything about how fast rabbits breed then don’t email me asking how could I not know the doe was pregnant. Look it up before you hate on someone else’s animals. The adults were sexed as males and weren’t actually males. Obviously. We didn’t find out until after the first litter was three weeks. By then she was already pregnant again. With this litter.

So if you have made it this far then here is the information about these lovely babes. No they don’t come with a cage. No they don’t come with food. Yes they were raised with the parents. No I didn’t rip them away from the mother to sell them. I waited until they were fully weaned. They are eating pellets and hay. Asking $10 each to be sure you are going to keep them. If you think you can’t commit to keeping this baby rabbit then again don’t bother emailing me.

Sex:
There are three females (does) and five males (bucks). The pictures are labeled with an M and an F to tell you who is what.

You sound pretty pissed off and I'd hate to piss you off more but why is it someone else fault that you let your rabbits mate 3 times when you knew you didn't want to be a rabbit hoarder?
I have a thread about this. I didn’t let them do anything. There is rabbit genitals in it. It isn’t allowed on Craigslist to give animals away for free. Those posts get flagged too.

I think you're wording in your advertisements is pissing people off and they are flagging you because you're attitude is showing in your words.

How did you end up with 3 litters?
We bought two rabbits from a meat breeder down the road. He sexed them as female. Vet sexed them as both male. We have two adults. That’s it. Got them in august. We find out that they had a litter when the kits start leaving the nest. By then she’s pregnant. Making two litters. We lock him up. She has the second litter and he breaks out two days before his day to get fixed. Gets her pregnant again. Three litters.

Ummmm, did you miss here beginning of the post where they wrote …”two male rabbits”…. Then proceeded to talk about surprise kits.

Given that like chickens these things have a 28 day gestation process… I’d think they got overwhelmed and were not able to separate them fast enough before “oops, we did it again.”

This is the 3rd litter they are trying to sell. Not the 2nd.

They should have been immediately and completely separated after the first litter and secured. Or the buck should have been fixed.
Yes, does can become pregnant immediately after giving birth, which is when bucks tend to mate. But this is not healthy for the doe, and it does contribute to the issue of overpopulated rabbits.

If you are selling them, it will seem like you are a breeder. I suggest you explain the situation on the CL posts, or better yet, surrender them to a rabbit rescue or local animal shelter where they can insure they go to good homes.
If you cannot handle the stress of owning animals and the consequences of having litter after litter, then I suggest you rehome the parents as well.

I'm sorry that you feel this way about the situation, but I believe that every rabbit deserves a loving home and every life is worth it. Perhaps rabbits aren't right for you at this time?

I found your problem ....you live in NYS lol everyone here is rude asf....i once tried correcting a post about ameraucanas they where easter eggers and was told to go back to my own country you towel head..... People in NY are the worst

How did you end up with 3 litters?
In my case, I get visited by the sex change fairy. Frequently. So my grow outs that should be female in that cage one is a late bloomer male. Boom. Multiple unexpected litters. Not sure in OPs case.
It IS possible to leave the kits with mom long enough for a young male to get lucky.
