My original chickens stumped us. We thought we had 3 hens and a rooster. The rooster is obvious, and one hen has become obvious because she’s laying eggs. One of the “hens” turned out to be a rooster too! He was either a late bloomer or younger than his friends. My last “hen” is a rooster I am thinking. I am learning about feathers and wattles on hens or roosters and this guys just looks like a rooster to me. Forgive me because I am brand new to being a chicken mama. My husband says this is a Dominique chicken, but is he maybe a barred rock? Is he a late blooming rooster? He doesn’t lay eggs or crow and is probably 5 months old. I know we should know by now, but my other surprise rooster was a hen forever too. Maybe they’re younger than we were told?
Thank you all!
