Me too! They look like girls to me...
It is, after all, the ultimate in recycling! You know, that's really not a terrible thing... I'd much rather eat a home grown cockerel that has at least experienced life than a mushy, tasteless chicken from the grocery store. Those things are killed before they even know how to cluck! I will eat them if I don't have any chicken of my own, but I prefer not to. I figure if a cockerel has had a good life and one bad moment, it's a blessing for him.
Those are my girls. Just checking!Me too!
I’m like...so which one is the cockerel?

The chicken in the store is so tasteless! But ever since I got my own chicks two months ago I haven’t been able to eat chicken!!!What I can't understand is how someone won't give it a second thought to grab a pack of chicken at a store to feed themselves and loved ones, but can't process and eat their own home raised high quality chicken. The store bird leads a miserable life in squalid conditions and was processed by illegal aliens that don't really care for the birds or sanitation on the processing line. Even if you don't care about any of that, if you ever taste the the difference between a full grown bird and a 1 1/2 month old baby, you'll find the grown bird tastes like chicken is supposed to, but the store bought 5-6 week old baby has no flavor, or worse, it tastes like cheap fake chicken bullion.
Back when I was a kid, I quit eating chicken for about a month or two. Dad killed one of my favorite chickens and Mom cooked it. Swore I'd never eat chicken again. After a while of smelling good fresh chicken cooking and watching everyone at the table enjoying it, it got to me. I had to try a peice. A year later and I was out there every Sunday morning dressing out a chicken for Sunday dinner and not thinking twice about it. It can be a hard and tramatic thing to take a life, but at least you know you gave them a great life, and in return, they help to nurish you.The chicken in the store is so tasteless!
