I bought my book shortly after I bought my first 3 hens. Years ago I bought 3 hens at $20 a piece. They were lovely looking and obviously full grown. 1, a speckled Sussex, never laid an egg as long as I owned her. She was a sweet bird and I loved her dearly, but she was past hen menopause and had stopped laying before I bought her. So don't feel too bad, it happens to the best of us, often when we start our first flock
