I raised coturnix for a while and they are such a fun bird to watch. Very tasty too. I really enjoyed cooking with the eggs because they looked really cool sunny side up. I don't know about the BobWhites, but the cots are lots of fun!

Cripes it's cold here! 10 degree windchill and we're supposed to have a wintry mix tomorrow night/Friday morning.
We don't do cold down here...we're wimps.

I changed my mind I like corts better I'm looking at this thread for quail pens/hutchs

But I'm in Southeast Texas...it's not supposed to get this cold here.

My poor birds hate the cold and wind-even my lab is a wimp and won't stay out in it.
Ya'll be careful up there, ducklover1-it looks horrible in Illinois. You already ate it once, that's enough for this winter.

I'm not suprised if we dont have school tomorrow cause of this weather some places are still out of power around here but we were lucky.
I'm tired of this cold

One way to keep warm is to stay in bed with laptop and blankets all day ( thats what I'm doing all day

I am getting ready to move 5 eggs into lockdown. I do not have much hope for these eggs for some reason. 4 of them came from a friend and 1 was the first egg one of my EE's laid. If it was laid by the EE I think, I did see my rooster and her "dancing" a few times. However, I have a major lockdown Sunday with shipped eggs. I did candle those and out of 12 sent, 9 are developing. So hopefully we will have a good hatch then. I could not candle the first set of eggs. They are all green and brown. My light wouldn't go through them.
