I accidentally killed my Yellow Golden boy :(

It's always worse when we feel we are to blame.

Please forgive yourself, accidents happen.

Thanks everyone for the condolences and shared experiences.

He free ranged during the day with the other birds and usually was the first to put himself away. Yesterday, I shut the gate to the pen, so the dogs wouldn't get the scraps I left. I have no doubt, he would have already been in there, had I not shut the gate.

I truly appreciate those who understand.

Here is a pic of my poor boy.

what?

Perhaps I am taking this totally out of context and apologize if this is the case, but someone is grieving a beloved animal and the only response 794 had was to ask about permits. I thought perhaps i had missed previous interaction between the two leading to 794's question. It just seemed a bit odd to me is all.

Nope never a run-in.

I think JJMR is referring to the fact that if you have permits for the birds and you lose them (yes it is a tragedy & I'm sorry to read it) you can be reimbursed for the cost. I think JJMR was taken the wrong way, but that is just me. Sorry to hear you lost your bird

Sorry for your loss. I had the same thing happen with my Cortunix. I have to be real careful in the pen. They even get under my heel if I rock forward to my toes. Very tame birds, they peck at my toes and feet all the time. Of course the one Istepped on was a female.
