I have to agree with Anne that this is not an Araucana..it is an EE. An araucana does not have muffs or the various plumage patterns that this bird does. Araucana are not mean, in general or in my experience (altho there are sometimes exceptions as with all breeds). I have numerous araucana roosters as well and have yet to experience a single sign of aggression from any of them.
I have also raised EEs and know that their temperaments vary greatly, depending on what is bred into them. I recently rehomed an entire flock and had to choose a place where my rooster would be the only male that lived there. He does not tolerate any other male species. The rooster was great with people, but not other animals. I also had a red rooster, similar in appearance to yours that was very nasty. He attacked everyone without a second thought.
Good luck with your roo. I would definitely keep him confined with children around until he learns his manners. If he doesn't outgrow it, he should be put down IMO.
