I got 4 lavender guinea keets today at the flea market and I love them already! I have a ton of chickens and hope for the guineas to free range when they grow but for now they are young and I have them in a cage and am busy trying to get them more tame. They are so very pretty and the noise they make sounds so sad!

LOL... welcome to the world of Guineas..... They are soo different from chickens on many levels. Get them a mirror to hang in the brooder. They will feel less lonely and oh my GAWD the rubber necking...... Any time they get scared they go for the mirror first.

Even my 9 week olds that are already getting their white skin on their heads. All eleven crowd into their brooder cage within the coop and check bases with their mirror.... "portal to another world Ooooooohhh...."

You will love them! I had 11, sold 4 Pearls and kept my lavenders and the buff Dundotte, then got more Pearls.

Guineas have been the most new fun I have had this year. I love my chickies and duckies but the Guinea keets have been so awesome to learn about and handle. I am already wanting more....more.....MORE! So I have 3 dz eggs coming from 3 different sources.

lol! I will get some pics today! They are such pretty little thing with their blue and beige stripes on their heads.

Yes, usually it is dry and crunchy this time of year and it's just hot as the dickens but we've been getting regular rain and it's keeping the grass nice and pretty. My chickens' poop is all bright green lol but they LOVE the fresh shoots.
