I am a terrible duck parent! I lost two ducks and did not even notice it! 😳🤦‍♂️😳🤦‍♂️😳🤦‍♂️

Can i sent any drake that has hatched to you then? 😜
My main objective to raise new ducklings is to get my drake to duck ratio to 1:3, which requires at least three more ducks - i'd have a total of 28 then, 21 ducks and 7 drakes.
I may have my own problems with drakes next month. I let my wife pick out the eggs to hatch. I have to give her 10 dollars for every hen and she has to give me 20 dollars for every drake.

2 Pekin, 2K/C, 3 Rouen. If we had done all K/C and Rouen, we could have done 9 eggs but the Pekins are so big. I told her if we got multiple hens and only one drake I would give her a hundred dollar bill as a bonus next time we go to Vegas. We were going next month for our first vacation in three years but the Wuhan virus changed that.

I wonder if Las Vegas will still exist after that beer-virus crisis is over. They must have lost millions by now… and once they're allowed to re-open it will take months, if not years before people come back to visit. If you've lost your job or were furloughed you have other things in your mind than a trip to Lost Vegas, i guess.

Sitting on th porch liste ning to the owls. I hear a Barred Owl close and a Barn owl a little further away. The ducks are all safely locked away so I am enjoying.
Even when my ducks are safely locked up for the night in their house, the howling of the Coyotes gives me the creeps! 😱

I stopped reading after the first two pages but I just wanted to say, try not to be too hard on yourself, and don't stop the bedtime count!

One night I was just so exhausted I was DONE with doing anything, so when I shut my chicken coop up I was lazy and didn't count. In the morning one hen was gone. I really kicked myself in the butt. The ONE TIME I didn't count and that was the night I was missing a hen. My favorite hen. My story has a happy ending though. Turns out she had a stash of TWENTY eggs hiding in the woods and that was the day she decided to hatch them. Poor thing. They were not fertile and the second I took them from her she decided she wasn't interested and went back to bed like the good hen she is.
