i would try to get both sides before hanging the kid out to dry..my oldest (

) had something similar happen, and i was at the school, losing my mind on the staff only to find out that my son was making very rude comments at this kids expense until he finally had enough.
after that i told him that he was on his own in that regard, i wouldnt be fighting his battles for him again.

i agree...threatening lawsuits over a bully that hasnt done anything yet is petty and gets nothing accomplished, and would most likely only embarrass your son.

Dar I just saw this! That sounds like a load of crap to me! We should not have to worry about the safety of our kids once they are on that bus. We are lucky we have a bus driver that takes no horse poop on his bus. A student was teasing my son and calling him retard due to a physical disability he suffers due to an accident. The child didn't stop after being warned and the kids was kicked off the bus for 2 weeks. The mother was mad at me!

I know you are a no nonsense kinda Mom and you will get something done! We are rooting for you. Keep me posted.

a lot of the problems with schools today (in my opinion, im not an expert) is that the staff has no real authority, and the kids know this. if a teacher even tries to punish a child for their wrong doing, they risk at minimum the mom coming up there and throwing a huge fit until the punishment is lifted or worse. ive read how a child will be denied entry to a dance or other function because of their dress, and the parents sue the school, rather than let the child learn that life has rules and you have to follow them. i really feel for todays teachers and other staff members, they are asked to do the impossible it seems and when it inevitably goes bad, they get blamed.

Well............. yes and no....

Speaking from experience... we the drivers and our company is often told by the school that the child who is often the problem must be kept on the bus!

Many times certain students are "classified" and we the drivers don't find out until after there is a major problem.... then we find out only because we get told to "work with" the child causing the problem..... and that is by the school.... Often the bus company is powerless!

The bus ride is supposed to be considered part of the school day... why else would the discipline forms go thru the school? Go after the school as well as the bus company..... and be a PITA!

yes, our school and buses are connected. even though the bus company is a seperate business. They work together.. in my area anyways...
Like my foster son.. the school told the bus company that he had to sit in the seat that the camera was aimed at... *he was accused of touching a girl as she walked by him ..* so now..he has to have the camera on him...per school orders...
