I am an aspiring rancher in high school. I am currently raising turkeys. Should i use the deep bedding method? What are the pros and cons of it?

I used deep bedding method last winter and it seemed to work ok. I'm not using it again this year though.

Cons:
It gets REALLY stinky
Hard to clean out in the spring
Doesn't really keep them any warmer
Their feces freeze and cause their legs to get really cold

Pros:
Keeps them a little warmer

Deep bedding or deep litter?

Cons:

This is the result of Deep bedding that isn't changed out enough or enough dry bedding isn't added in to keep up with the poop load.

For Deep Litter to work it really does best on an earth floor as it needs moisture to work. I therefore think it isn't the best option in a climate that experiences freezing temperatures regularly during winter.
