I AM FINNALLY GETTING CHICKENS!!!! i am so exited!!!! i have wanted this for years!!! i am hoping to get lavender orpingtons and black australorps!!!!! and silkie and frizzle and phoenix bantams!!!! post if these are good breeds and if you know of better breeds!!!

Yay! So exciting! I finally order some LO's and I'm super excited. My wyandottes, barred rocks, easter eggers and ameraucaunas are my friendliest chickens. I had a frizzle once and she was a sweetheart. Good luck on your new adventure!

How exciting~ I hope you have everything planned out such as how many you should or shouldn't get, if you have the proper coop/run to house your chickens in and what-not. I would suggest getting breeds that would get along with eachother like the Orpingtons and australorps. I would suggest getting something other than Silkies or Frizzles since they tend to get picked on quite frequently. I personally wouldn't mix bantam and standard sized chickens. I would either go for just bantams or just standards. Good luck with your chickens.

Thanks!!! i have been planning this out for quite some time! the bantams my neighbor has those same breeds and they seem to get along fine. but if they don't i would separate them!

Congrats! I'm a new chicken owner myself so I can't really help with breeds. I do like my Australorps though!

I have 6 leghorns. Big mistake! Get like 2 as they lay loads of eggs. I have a Buff Orpington and she is the sweetest thing ever! Ameracunas are known to die early at like 1 due to genetics.

I have a blue Orpington that is beautiful & gentle. Gets along with my giant brahmas & Bresse. Hoping to get some hens this year. I once had an Australorp Hen that laid eggs just about every day and excellent mother hen.
