I am going to kill this fox !

Just drove home late tonight and decided to cruise out past the barn with my car's headlights on, and what do you know, Mr. Fox was there, and went running off across the fields when I drove up. Now I know where to set a 3rd trap. Luckily the chickens were all locked up in their coop and safe.

I am glad they are all safe hope you get that %$&# Fox

I just think about how clueless I have been about how close the foxes are to my house and coop, and how many there are here. I just didn't see the signs before. But tracking them in the snow was frightful -- I realized the foxes are here every night, and going around all over the buildings and fields looking for prey (chicken!) or rabbits etc. Well, I am clueless no more. and now that i know where they travel and I look for them, I am seeing them.

Yeah, that is scary. I suppose the foxes lived there long before it became suburban. I was told "there are thousands" of foxes living around here, and I suppose the conditions are right -- a creek, some fields and meadows, a supply of rabbits and food. Also I think since foxes are nocturnal (and sneaky), people just don't realize they're around.

Are you serious about taking down a fox with an air rifle ?
Unless you are planning to tip-toe up up behind the animal and club it to death you might want to rethink your strategy before you maim the creature and leave it to die a lingering death or live the rest of its life in pain.
Borrow a .22 and do the job properly.
