I am KathyD Texas

organic layer feed, alfalfa grass powder from my lamb hay, oyster shells, crushed egg shells, meal worms, they love cut up spinach, blueberries, tomatoes, etc. I think they eat well
Do you know that by feeding them treats it takes away from them getting a balanced complete diet of just the layer feed?
It's advised to feed no more than 10% of treats per bird per day and that 10% equals about a tablespoon.
My point is if you're feeding anything more than a tablespoon of anything besides the layer feed you're feeding too many treats... Too many treats causes problems.

ok thanks... I don't give them all that in oneway. Yes, mostly layer feed and leave oyster shells on the side. use the veggies or fruit to lure them back in their coop after running around the yard. They seem ver healthy. Esther is molting though...read to give protein??

A starter or grower chick type feed is usually higher than a layer type feed... So if you want to up the protein switch to a starter or grower feed.

we tried both...just ordered some soy free, whole grain raw from 'Scratch and Feed" because they hate the big pellet...ignore it
Can you cancel the order?
When you feed a whole grain type feed you're giving the bird a choice to pick and choose which grains they want to eat which again can lead to them not getting a complete balanced diet.

@Kiki which company was it out of texas that uses Fertrell in their feed? They pellet the meals and fertrell and add it to the cracked grain? I thought it was something like H & K but can't find it on the web.
I use the Fertrell Poultry Nutri-Balancer in with our cracked grains that I feed. I ferment the grains first and mix it in right before I feed it. Is this the same vitamins and mineral additive stuff you are referring to?
