It is a dream, a long shot but we would love it there. I will remain a dual citizen since we will still have investments in the USA. Who knows, i might never get there but in a urn....LOL

Your eggs are nice and toasty, being turned by a turner and loving 48% humidity.

Northeastern PA is very nice. We have four seasons, fertile ground, rolling hills (mountains), reasonably priced homes/acreage, low property taxes and nice people. I lived in the Piedmont area of NC for 11 years and really got tired of the hot/humid summers, bugs!, and red dirt that grew nothing. But I grew up in PA, so it is home to me.

My backyard

That is exactly what I want to see when I look out my door or while I am having my morning cup of coffee.

One question. Do you have fire ants that far north? I so want to escape those stupid bugs. I HATE fire ants.

I am going to show my hubby your photo when he wakes up from his nap.

Yes, PA has fire ants but not like down here. I remember getting hit climbing a tree when little. I never saw mounds though. Down here in FL it is horrible~ Growing up in Philly was nice but the snow did me in! I do mis autum/fall and the tree's changing!

I have visited both Belize and Costa Rica, and it occurred to me in both cases that I wouldn't mind living there. In Costa Rica we had a tour guide who was born and raised in Iowa and had lived in Costa Rica for many years. However, he was not allowed to become a citizen, so every year he had to go visit somewhere else for a certain length of time (if I remember correctly, he would go to Chile.) To get a job without being a citizen, you must demonstrate there is no citizen who could do the same job. To become a citizen requires, basically, that you are independently wealthy.

This is just memories of a brief review of the requirements in place several years ago, but I think you'll find Costa Rica has the same general attitude about foreigners moving there at this time. I can't remember whether it was a similar situation in Belize, but I think so.

I know belize is a providence of the UK. They speak english, that's why i like it. I will have to check into the citizenship thing...thanks

We considered doing Belize once the boys were settled into college. Two tiny teacher's pensions would allow us to retire with a good standard of life there, or settle for much less here. After giving 25 years of my life educating the kids who will take the helm of this country, I've earned the peace and quiet of a hammock on a beach somewhere. As I understand it, if you can show proof of a 2k/month income you can stay indefinatly under the expat program, but you don't have to give up your US citizenship.
