Nope. But I am not the one who wanted to move out of country. I just want to switch states.

Colorado is nice. I liked NC when I was in Bragg. Bragg sucked real bad though. I like NC's lic plates.

I like the mountains of NC. The area around Ft. Bragg I just don't like. Too much humidity. And I HATE fire ants!

My husband lived in Colorado when he was a boy. He loved it.

If I didn't have kids, I'd be moving to somewhere just outside of Quito, Ecuador.

This is not directed at the OP but in general

Well..as a German .. All I can say is .. dont move there. But if you think its better over there.. just go right ahead.

All in all it is a beautyful country.. but a extented army stay or a vaccation hardly will show you what is really going on over there.
Alot of EU countries have their own problems just like we have in the states now.

Plus you cant just imigrate into germany like they used to let ya. Same with Australia and other countries.

I am German.. will allways be a german in my heart( still a citizen also) but I will never ever go back to live in Europe.
I love the States..and will remain here until I die.
If it is easier living.. less laws, less taxes , less crime, less .gov involvement you seek.. might as well stay here. Because its not so green on the other side.
And best have a ton of money to take with you..to live off. to eat and get your house etc..
You think if money was so easily made in a diff country.. why do you see the natives still stuck with less than 200 dollars a month income? If you are retired and make decent money.. sure.. some countries you can live like a king with maids etc in a huge house.. until you get robbed or killed over stuff these people have wanted and you have. Or kidnapped for ransom because you are the rich american that takes their daily bread from the their kid`s mouth by taking away their business they depend on.
Unless you live in a gated community on a island with its own laws and alot of americans .. you better be aware that not everything is all sunshine and blue skies.

I have been in this situation and trust me... if you think you can live a better, safer live and have more freedom.. less crime and dont have to worry about food or shelter and can open a business making lots of money...and the .gov isnt going to keep tabs on you or is going down the drain etc.. go right ahead.... good luck and let me know how it is in a years time.
At least here I know I can defend myself with my weapons if someone comes onto my property while the second amendmnet is still intact ( and prolly will remain for a long time )
Not so many countries are this ( still ) gun friendly.

Guns may be banned in alot of EU countries.. or overseas somewhere but ..Russia. ..Chechnia etc are still importing/smuggling weapons left and right.. so there are guns and there is quite a lot of gun crime beeing commited.. you dont hear about it alot if you dont look for it... you dont read european news do ya?

I bet ya per capita there is alot more crime in different countries that you would ever hear about.. people dont tend to read or watch news from different countries if it doesnt concern their own backyard. Do some research and see what comes of it.

there is so much more to all of this than just moving there and living the good live.. religion, taxes, healthcare, local laws, state laws.. country laws, local .gov. miltary, gangs drugs, corruption ...employment once you need to get a job if something goes south... etc.. take all of this into consideration before you think the USA is such a bad place to live..

We know some people who have retired to Mexico. On of our workers lives in a town not far from where they live. Basically the whole town is expats who have retired and moved there from the USA. Only one problem they are having. They cannot own land there. The laws written are up to interpretation from the local authorities on up. Our friends have lived there for several years and were very happy. Since the current economic down turn their tax payments have become somewhat convoluted and never seem to be paid off as before. They are somewhat nervous about this. Their landlord has increased their "rent" over the past year. Crime has gone up considerably, where before they had basically none. They are having to pay more in "bribes" to the authorities.
Their retirement life there is starting to fall apart.

Reason for the story is that you probably will not be able to "own" property in Belize as a non citizen. Latin America's laws are subject to wide interpretation at every level, and corruption is rampant. You have to pay the right people to keep what you have.
My employee has a 800 acre farm and owns the local grocery store in his town. It takes 1/2 of his salary here (at 12.50 per hour plus overtime, 60 hrs per week, for 6 months per year to keep his green card) just to keep what he has in dollars. He is the only one in his town who has a tractor, hay baler, etc... all paid for with his 12 years of working for us here.
He has told me that this year it will cost him 3/4 of what he makes here to keep what he has. Bribes (for security against drug trafficers) and increased gov taxes. Without coming here he could not make it there and keep what he has.
He is a very successful man in Mexico.
We often have talks on which country is better.
The conversation always ends with this:
I say: Our politicians/authorities are not as corrupted as yours
He says: are you sure???
