Belize is a providence of the UK and yes, you can own property there. You can own in mexico as well but they have a law that you can't own so many miles from the beach. I ain't living in Mexico, no way! I will stick with Belize
Formerly a providence of the UK. Surrounded by Guatemala and Mexico. I showed your post to my Mexican national employee. His quote: "This person is not correct. At any time any level of the government can change the rules to suit them. Depends on the amount of bribes they want to pay to keep what they have." "The worse the economy gets there the more they have to pay." "I will have to pay more bribe money to keep my farm safe from the drugs" "They want to take my farm". "Americans have no rights here, they are foreigners and that will never change". "It is our country, and our culture is much different than yours". "This person should do research before she moves from America". "I would not come here unless I had to, would more rather be with my wife and children"...
I have researched Belize alot!
With a stable political democracy, consistent increases in tourist arrivals since 1998, a currency pegged to the US dollar, miles and miles of sandy beaches and the largest barrier reef in the Western hemisphere, Belize promises to be one of the strongest emerging markets in which to invest. The timing is right and Belize is beginning to attract real estate investors attracted by the potential for capital appreciation in the "New Caribbean".
There are no barriers to foreign investment and, as a member of the British Commonwealth, Belize has a legal system based on British law and is the only English speaking country in Central America. In addition, Belize has no capital gains or inheritance taxes and a growing private offshore banking sector. It takes little imagination to see where the Belize property market is heading
Nobody here want's to live in filthy Mexico. I wouldn't even visit mexico , just heard to much stuff from my mexican friends. Tell your friend then to go back. You can make money in mexico if your educated~ Let me guess..............HUMMMMM
