I am new....and amazed at collective knowledge

:welcome
I can’t gloat about my beagle. Two years of training, and he put his champion parents to shame. He’s mine now, and I love him. That is all that matters.
I wish you luck in your move, and future flock!
You are right!....That is all that matters!

:welcome :frow I was a lurker too for several months before I joined. Good luck and have fun...
I had ZERO knowledge ....didn't even have any clue what breeds I wanted, how many, or how to properly house, feed, etc. I find now I am forming my opinions about how I want to do things based upon reading broadly. Not that everyone here agrees, but they do a great job of explaining why they choose to do things the way they do. It's very helpful and very much appreciated. Another year of reading, studying, thinking and preparing and I hope I will be ready to do my chickens justice!

There are some people who think there way is the best and only way something should be done, but that isn't so. Everyone is different as well as their situations so what works good for one may not work as well for another. You will have to find out what works best for you and you have plenty of time. You can always change some things. I have discovered during the years that changing something even a little bit can make a huge difference. Good luck and have fun...

I understand. I've been involved in dogs since 1970 and there's a saying "Put 10 dog trainers in a room and you'll get 12 opinions." If my dog keeping experience is any indication....when you feel a responsibility to provide a certain quality of life for all living things under your care, you are motivated to find ways of doing that give you peace. If someone else does it in a way that we don't feel comfortable with...we look elsewhere for answers.
