Chapter 18

'Come on!' I told Genius. 'Let's try to open it.'
We stepped up to the gold nob and examined it. We jumped and tried to turn it, but nothing worked. I hopped on top of Genius' shoulders like we used to do in the small cage. I did everything I could to turn that nob, but nothing worked. We didn't know what else to do.
'That nob doesn't seem like it wants to turn.' I told Genius.
'Obviously....' She muttered. 'Wait!'
'What?' I asked her.
'There's another straight looking thing. Maybe if we pull it, it will open the door. Maybe that nob is just old.'
'Alright, your turn to try to open it.'
She jumped on the nob, and it went down. She fell off. The door didn't open.
'Darn it! Someone needs to pull the door!' She grumbled.
'I can try to pull it while you push the flappy thingy down.'
'Flappy thingy?'
'Oh, you know what I mean! I have my own dictionary, ya know.'
She chuckled. 'Mmm hmm'
'Ooh, nice one! I think I'll put that in there.'
'I only learned that from Alex and Mary'
Genius hopped on the fancy nob. I put my beak in between the cracks and turned my head to open it. I heard a crack and pain shot through my beak. Like when the humans put my beak on the blade.
I cried and cried.
Genius hopped down. 'Maizie!!! Are you okay????' She soothed my aching beak with her feathery wing.
'Not really.' I wept.
'Oh my gosh. Never do that again.' She told me. 'Maizie! It's opened! You did it! We're gonna get Mary and Alex!'
I stopped crying. 'Come on!'
We ran through the opened door.
'Whoa....' We said in amazement.

Chapter 19

There was a big river, green grass, blue sky, brown dirt, brown and green trees, green bushes, and giant white buildings. The buildings were VERY long. Genius and I examined the dirt and grass.
'Ooh! There's a bug like in my dream that Grain and I played with!' I said cheerfully. I tossed the bug around with my feet. 'Kick it back, Genius!'
'No! We have to save Alex and Mary!' She snapped at me.
'Oh yeah... Come on!'
We ran to the next white building. I pushed the door while Genius hopped on the nob. The door opened. We didn't close the door, because it would be hard to get out.
'Oh my gosh.' Genius whispered to me.
'Holy chicken crap.' I whispered back.” I pause.
“What's wrong? Is it something bad? Scary? What???????” Butter asks me.
“Yes, it's bad and scary.”
“Oh no..... I'm afraid! More!” Lacey says.
“There was giant cages. They were all shoved with--”
“CHICKENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Butter interrupted again.
“--cows. One cow a cage. No room for them to move. We could hear big 'moo' noises.
'Yo, chickens! Get us out of here!' A cow ordered us.
'How?' I asked the cow.
'There's a key hanging next to the door. Grab that and put it in this lock thing on my cage.'
'Uh, okay. Come on Genius.'
We ran over to the opened door. Next to it, on a hook, there was a key, just like the cow said. I flew up and grabbed it with my broken beak. I threw it down to Genius. It flopped on the ground. Genius grabbed it and took it over to the demanding cow. I hopped on the thick bar and held the lock up. Genius hopped on the other side of me, and stuck the key in. The rude cow banged himself up against the bars, trying to break it opened. Genius decided that we should turn the key, so we did. The lock fell off and the bars opened. The cow came out.
'Thanks, chickens.' The cow said.
'The big door is opened. You can leave! Your free! There's grass and dirt and water and room to move around!' I cheered.
'I can move! For the first time in my life, I can move!' The cow pranced around.
'Wait... What's your name?'
'I'm Chunk. That's what all the dudes call me.'
'All the dudes?' I asked.
'Yeah... All the other cows.' He replied to my comment.
'Oh! Duh!' I said stupidly.
'Uh, do you chickens think you could help out a few of my dudes?'
'Of course!' Genius replied. 'As long as you can do something for us.'
'Anything.' Chunk said.
