Well, I called a week ago about a permit for selling bobwhite quail eggs. The lady said she would send me a information slip and she did. I also asked her how much it is and she said $10 just to raise them and $25 to sell them or their eggs.

WellI got the permit application in the mail and it is totally different than what she said. There is nothing for $10. It says that its 25 to raise them and $40 to sell their eggs.

Well I only have 7 BWs and I paid $5 each for the birds. Thats $35 for 7 birds. Now why should I buy a permit for more than the cost of the birds? I am lost.

I dont know if I should just sell the eggs to people I know or what? I can eat them but I would die first because I love them, so much. I can let them go but that wouldnt help me. Or I could just keep them.

What would you do if you were in this situation? I have a guy already that wants to buy the bobwhite eggs from me and he already bought some Coturnix eggs for hatching so I know he is not a decoy. Right now I give the eggs to friends and family but I need to make some money on them.

Please help me out!

Thanks,
Cody!!

I think I would get the permit it will pay for its self I you sell the eggs. Also DO NOT release them into the wild even thou they are native birds they depend on you to feed them they never learned to feed them selfs

I don't know where your from but gee, that is a lot for some bobwhite. You could have bought eggs for a whole lot less and hatched out a lot more. Anyway, I woudn't get the permit. I don't think quail eggs sell for enough to really make you any money. If it was me, I would get rid of the quail or just keep them for myself.

Now that you applied for a permit the game dept. knows you have them so sell the wild quail breed and stay with the domestic quail varities like coturnix or raise chickens.

Cody this is exactly what i was warning you about bud. Dont be selling those without a permit you will regret it (yoru family will) if you get caught also yes dont relelease them that's even more illegal. Theres always the option to eat them.

I know that they were really overpriced and I kinda "jumped" to get them. I cant bring myself to eat them. I want to but I love them so much!

No they dont. I just inquired about getting some. I never said anything about already owning them.

Thanks for the replies. Im gonna wait for a few more till I make my decision.

You should find out what the penalties are in your state if you get caught with them and don't have a permit. That's what I call an informed decision.
